Zambia is a desirable safari destination, where tranquillity and excellent game viewing are assured. This tour offers Livingstone, where you will find the spectacular Victoria Falls and a range of associated activities, plus South Luangwa National Park. In South Luangwa you will encounter abundant and varied wildlife, undertaking daytime and night-time game drives. Between June and October it is also possible to walk in the bush with armed guides.

DAYS 1 - 4
After your early morning arrival from your international flight with British Airways from London to Lusaka, you will connect with a Proflight flight to Mfuwe. From here you will be met at Mfuwe airport and transfer to your accommodation, just outside South Luangwa National Park.
The game is plentiful in South Luangwa and you are likely to see Thornicroft’s giraffe (endemic to the area), huge numbers of hippo, and the distinctive herds of puku. The predators are well represented with good chances of seeing lion and even leopard during daylight hours. During your time in Luangwa you will undertake game drives in the morning, and afternoon/night game drives, as well as game walks, depending on season. The middle of the day can be spent relaxing in the shade of the Natal Mahogany trees, watching the hippos wallowing in the river. The camp has a swimming pool.

Game drives in South Luangwa will be in open vehicles and these will be organised by the lodge. There may be other guests accompanying you on these game drives.

Stay for four nights in en-suite chalet or en-suite premanent tented accommodation on a full board basis.

DAYS 5 - 7

Today you will return to Mfuwe and fly to Livingstone, via Lusaka. After arriving in Livingstone, you will be met at the airport and transfer to Bushbuck River House. Bushbuck is owned and run by Nomad African Travel and provides an ideal alternative to large impersonal hotels. Situated on the 105 acres of Liyoyelo Farm, accommodation is in en-suite rooms and home cooking is a feature of Bushbuck. The farm has a swimming pool and pool house, a tree house overlooking the Zambezi, and plenty of space to relax and explore the surrounding area, which is very peaceful. The riverside setting provides home to animals such as elephant, hippo, buffalo, waterbuck and bushbuck, along with a wide variety of bird species. The hippo are frequently found grazing on the lawn at night, whilst other night visitors include spotted genet and thick tailed bush-baby. The 263 species of birds in the area include Pel's Fishing Owl and African Finfoot. If water levels are low it is possible to cross onto one of the islands in the middle of the Zambezi and Cape clawless otter can sometimes be seen here.

There are many additional activities that you can undertake in Livingstone including: visiting Victoria Falls; game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, white water rafting; Zambezi boat trip; fishing or canoeing on the Zambezi; jet boat trips in the gorge; game viewing on horse or elephant back; aircraft and microlight flights over the falls; visits to museums and markets, or to local villages and schools. The cost of these activities is extra to the tour price, but must be booked through Nomad to qualify for this tour price. Alternatively you can just relax and explore the area.
